Hot – IK Multimedia iRig USB Guitar Interface looks awesome.

IK Multimedia has announced the iRig USB guitar interface, the latest device in their extensive iRig range. Featuring a 1/8″ headphone jack and 1/4″ amp output, the unit offers an affordable and compact way for guitar and bass players to practise or perform. Completely USB-C powered, this looks ideal for chucking in your gig bag for on the road.

iRig comes bundled with AmpliTube SE for PC/Mac and AmpliTube CS for iOS. Being a DAW or free-standing application you could quite literally design a killer sound on your phone in the greenroom backstage then plug it in on stage and you’re good to go.

Sleek design

The compact main unit can accept input from both passive and active instruments, featuring a large dial for adjusting input gain. A small level indicator is included to help you ensure the correct levels. It’s small enough to discreetly hide on stage if necessary or to use with an iPad/iPhone holder.

While its primary focus is on guitar and bass, there’s no reason you couldn’t connect a synthesizer or the mono send from your keyboard for some creative outcomes.

Several handy applications immediately come to mind, such as interfacing with educational apps or connecting directly to a digital audio workstation (DAW) for recording. Additionally, you could consider keeping it by your bedside for those late-night bursts of inspiration.

Leave the heavy stuff at home

You no longer have to lug around extensive pedalboards and amplifiers. AmpliTube and ToneX offer remarkable flexibility, allowing you to carry countless stage setups, amp models, and song presets within the device. The headphone output can be utilized to transmit a complete stereo mix to a front-of-house mixer, while the primary guitar amp output can send either dry or AmpliTube-processed signals to your amplifier.

You can employ either a PC/Mac laptop as the central platform for AmpliTube or connect directly to an iPad or iPhone 15.

Technology has become incredibly advanced for live musicians. Undoubtedly, this is one exceptionally cool device that every working guitarist and bassist would want to have in their gig bag.

Software and Apps In-the-box

iRig USB is the gateway to a universe of inspiring guitar and bass tones. Included are AmpliTube 5 SE for Mac/PC (a $149.99 value) and AmpliTube CS for iOS with the “AmpliTube Essentials Bundle” (a $29.99 value) offering 80 “must-have” gear models, and TONEX SE for Mac/PC and iOS (a $149.99 value) with 200 Premium Tone Models plus unlimited user Tone Model downloads from ToneNET.

Pricing and Availability

iRig USB is shipping now and available from the IK Multimedia online store and from IK authorized dealers worldwide for $/€69.99 – Includes iRig USB, USB-C to USB-C cable.
