Hamtown Smakdown 2018 Announced

Hamtown Smakdown is back for it’s 17th year in a row and will be bringing you two nights with some of Aotearoa’s best bands from all over the punk spectrum. As always this little DIY festival will be all-ages, drug and alcohol-free – there will be stalls, food and good vibes.

Kirikiriroa’s own fast and heavy veterans Spiteful Urinator will be taking the stage at Smakdown- a must see for anyone who wants to experience 5 cups of morning coffee in the form of an energetic and in-your-face (in the good way!) musical performance. Local metallic hardcore cats Salvage are back again and newcomers Easy Off are taking the stage early Friday, with members of Wizz Kids, Salvage and Hedge Fund Trader, you know they’ll be worth making the extra effort for. 2018 also sees the return of Ghidoragh from their current base in Wellington to their hometown. Having been a band, broken up and even done a reunion show all in H-town during the 90’s and well before Smakdown was founded, we’re stoked to get these icons back up here.

We’ve also got the bringers of fun-times blowing up from Wellington in the form of the infamous Rogernomix, the regular euro-touring duo Hollywoodfun Downstairs, as well as Unsanitary Napkin and Stress Ghetto.

The Aucklanders are, of course, coming down to show off the likes of Long Distance Runner (ex Sere, Parents), the long-awaited return of Old Loaves and the intense fast punk of the Slug Huggerwahine and Hagseed who never fail to get people moving.

Break-in your new shoes, do your stretches, stay hydrated and get ready for a ruckus weekend of fast and heavy homegrown tunes!

As always the festival will be all-ages entry & drug and alcohol-free, there will be stalls, food and good vibes so, come on down and get amongst it.

The full line up includes;
Spiteful Urinator, Salvage, Easy Off, Ghidoragh, Rogernomix, Hollywoodfun Downstairs, Unsanitary Napkin, Stress Ghetto, Long Distance Runner, Slug Hugger & Hagseed

4th- 5th May, 7pm start on both nights. Tickets $10 Under 18 Festival Pass (ID required) & $20 Adult Festival Pass.
