EastWests Exciting Fourth Chapter Hollywood Fantasy Percussion Out Now

The latest instalment of EastWest’s Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra is now complete, showcasing an extensive collection of thunderous, mystical, struck, and shaken instruments.

These additions flawlessly enhance even the grandest soundtracks! Hollywood Fantasy Percussion is a remarkable match for most orchestral scores and truly stands out when integrated with the rest of the Hollywood Fantasy palette. A noteworthy point is that this percussion library is the first of its kind, meticulously crafted for scoring epic fantasy soundtracks.

Within Hollywood Fantasy Percussion, a wide array of instruments spans every imaginable setting, empowering composers to conjure up captivating soundscapes from distant and fantastical realms.

Eastwest Hollywood Fantasy Percussion Highlights

• Bodhrans, known from Celtic folk music and heard in Braveheart and Titanic
• Gran Cassas, a bass drum to extend the low end of the orchestra, which is notably absent in many traditional ensembles.
• Large Taikos, as heard in many video game and film scores, recorded in a tight-knit ensemble to provide the glorious bassy rumble these massive drums are known for.
• 600 lb Nagado Ensemble: the massive naga do-daikon was designed for rituals and spiritual uses, and as such is a great way to underscore austere ceremonies with a single, haunting low impact. This drum ensemble especially shines in slow, quiet passages with little competition in the orchestra.
• Ceng Ceng: these Balinese cymbals have a splashy, resonant character perfect for background ambience.
• Many, many more types of mystical percussion instruments and ensembles to provide inspiration and evoke images of fantasy settings: Crotales, Cymbal and Gong Ensemble, Goatnail Shaker, Krakeb, Metal Shaker, Nagara Rub FX, Nagara and Ashiko, an Orchestral Bell Ensemble, Orchestral Metallurgy, a Snare Ensemble, and Toms.

Hollywood Fantasy Percussion is produced by sound titans Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, adding another dimension to the Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra providing everything you need to score fantasy film, television, and game soundtracks.

The recordings took place on the same soundstage where their acclaimed blockbuster series, Hollywood Orchestra, was captured. For Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra, numerous instruments were recorded in small ensembles, offering an immersive experience with full stereo imaging mic placement, surround sound options and all the cutting-edge features of EastWest’s revolutionary Opus software.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming releases from EastWest: Hollywood Fantasy Voices will be available in late August, and the entire orchestra will be completed with the introduction of Hollywood Fantasy Orchestrator (developed in partnership with Sonuscore) on October 5th.

Hollywood Fantasy Percussion is available for individual purchase for a special introductory price of $99, or you can get it as part of a Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra bundle, or with EastWest’s popular ComposerCloud+ subscription service, which gives you access to this and all collections in their massive catalogue.

ComposerCloud+ yearly plan is currently on sale for only $149 for the first year (new subscribers only)
