d16 Announce Drumazon 2 the perfect 909 emulation.

D16 Group Audio Software is proud to release the second generation of its acclaimed Drumazon Drum Machine instrument.

Drumazon 2 is a perfect 909 emulation and more, and diehard fans will immediately find the sound they want thanks to the intuitive interface. Not only is the sound faithful to the original, but it offers perfected channel strips, a modern sequencer and workflow improvements that will help you find your groove. It’s time to fall in love all over again.

Since 1983, the 909 has helped define both electronic genres and mainstream pop. It’s been the go-to percussion for iconic artists, such as Daft Punk and Aphex Twin, and can be heard on some of the most recognizable tracks from those eras.

Despite its eventual rise to fame, the 909 was not a commercial success upon release and only 10,000 units were made in the two years before it was discontinued. This is one of the reasons why an original-era machine will regularly fetch around six thousand euros and why Daft Punk’s personal 909 fetched more than twice that at auction.

At D16, the 909 sound meant so much to us that we wanted to keep it alive and offer it to everyone… without breaking the bank. When we made the original Drumazon, we worked tirelessly to accurately model the original hardware at component level, until we got the exact sound that has had such an iconic influence.

For Drumazon 2, we modernized the emulation and the interface so that, while it would remain familiar, it would be even more efficient and help lovers of the original dial in their sound even quicker. We wanted to give our audience a real 909 experience with an inspiring workflow, which is why attention to detail has been so important.

Drumazon 2 is a meticulous software recreation of a beloved drum machine that was created at a time when analogue and digital technologies were merging. Each drum sound has an independent channel strip, and can be routed to two sends that feature eight effects before reaching a master section with a three-band compressor and a limiter.

Not only does this offer sonic flexibility, with effects that can transform your sound, but the channel strip and master section also help you tailor the signal before and after the effects section. It also comes with hundreds of presets that mean it sounds good, and out-of-the-box.

Just like a hardware unit, extensive output options and wide-ranging MIDI integration means that Drumazon 2 won’t just be part of your sound, it can be part of your rig too. You can easily control Drumazon with a MIDI keyboard and capture your musical expressiveness. Also, not only can you use MIDI out to control other hardware and software instruments with the internal sequencer, but you can also export your internal sequences to MIDI.

In short, Drumazon 2 is a recreation of a traditional instrument but with modern controls that let producers get where they need to be quicker than ever. Its effect chains help you dial in your sound, its improved workflow puts you in the driving seat and its sequencer presets and randomizer offer inspiration you never expected.

This is how the 909 was meant to be!
